Valentine's Day aka Male Pressure Day

This will be our 3rd Valentine's together. Odd, that this is the only Holiday that I can think of that shares it's name with a massacre. Or is it? To men all over this great earth it feels like a massacre is about to happen. I don't understand romantic. I try, and usually fail. So what I do is I shoot for "cute." As in "bless him he tried and failed, but it was so cute." Failure can be an option. Our first Valentine's together I got us locked in my dad's law firm building, set off the alarm, cut myself and bled all over, ruined my Mom and Dad's Valentine's by making them come and save us, who also had to ruin his secratary's (she had to come and unlock us so we could leave), and humiliated myself infront of Erin. Obviously the food got cold and becuase I tried to make it great, Erin could dub that it was so "cute" that I tried. So this year I'll once again shoot for romantic and end up at "cute." I can live with that.

Things that I've learned over the years about Valentine's Day.

1. Beef jerky is the male equivelent of roses.

2. I think that the male equivelent holiday is the fourth of July. Instead of romance and flowers we get explosions, bright lights and lots of BBQed meat.

3. Erin is a sport for putting up w/ my attempts.

4. I can't rhyme anything with "purdy" except "curdy" and "turdy" neither of which belong in a romantic poem.

5. Cupid's stupid. I work at a hospital and anyone who is that old and in still in diapers well that's not romantic, even if he does have a baby face.

6. Valentine's makes single, lonely people cry. (I've been there)

7. It's the one day that I use cologne and deodorant at the same time!

8. This is really hard. I Don't know if I'll reach my goal of 10. I guess I haven't really learned that much about V-day.

9. Charlie Brown sold out when he made "Happy Valentine's Charlie Brown." He never even kissed Peppermint Patty. I never thought that I would say this but, "You are a block-head Charlie Brown."

10. Last year I ate all the chocolates that I was supposed to give Erin. Sorry.

ps: Does it mean anything that the heart always has an arrow through it? Seems more deathy than lovey

COOKIE LUST

The definition, which I'm sure you are all wondering, of cookie lust is: The lusting after of cookies. My male co-worker and I have come up with an analogy, or idea, to help women better understand men. This should be a universal idea, since practically everyone loves and can understand cookies. I haven't looked to see if cookie lust is in wikepedia, but I'm pretty sure it is not since it is a revolutionary idea. I shall explain further. You see, cookies are divine, aahhh mmmm (I can just picture the warm cookie being ripped in two, slowly, as the chocolate chips are melting and practically dripping off the cookie on those Pillsbury commercials) The warm chocolate morsels, the warm soft cookie, and the smooth ice cold milk that washes it down! My favorite cookies are chocolate chip, and most of them I taste are just sensational! There are a few cookies you taste and think, "WHAT! THIS IS A DISGRACE TO DEFINITION OF COOKIE!" after immediately spitting it out. But whenever I think of a cookie, (a good warm, soft one) I just have to have one! In fact, I want one right now! Whenever I think about a delectable cookie, Its usually all I can do not to drop whatever I'm doing, and get one! One could just go as far as to say that I have cookie lust! I mean think about it...good cookies always brighten a day, make your owies better, and are a delightful treat for anyone who partake. The world would be a darker place without the presence of good cookies.Well, although these feelings are hitting a little closer to home than you might want them to, the main point here is: how women feel about cookies, is how men feel about women! Men experience COOKIE LUST! Good women are divine, delectable, and the world would be a darker place without good women, and whenever men think about good women, they just want one! HA! And sometimes they come across a woman that looks divine, and find out that she is a disgrace to the meaning of women! But good Women always brighten a day, make your owies better, and are a delightful treat to anyone who comes in contact with them. Fortunately, the men I know have a lot more restraint with women than I do with Cookies! But it sure helps me understand them a LOT better, because now I know how hard it must be to practice restraint when coming across a good woman. pure brilliance! Well ladies, I'm hoping that this analogy helps you understand your man a bit better. And next time you sit down to enjoy a delectable darn good looking cookie, just remember to tell your man you love him, and appreciate all he does for you!

A Fillmore Christmas....

Our Christmas was wonderful, but hectic. We didn't spend two nights a row in the same place. Our schedule was Salt Lake, Provo, Ephraim, Provo, Ephraim, Provo. Christmas with both families, parties with friends, our Christmas was crazy. My sister Kristen went through the Manti temple on the 27th which was a really great experience. Another highlight was when my brother Brian who is serving a mission in Ireland, called on Christmas day. He is getting a little bit of an accent!

We got lots of great things for Christmas, if I had to narrow it down to my top three...it would be... A great piece of Art work that Spencer got me, it is a picture of the Salt Lake Temple where we were married, absolutely beautiful! Next, my mom has been saving scraps of old jeans for 25 years to make a picnic blanket. She sewed some cute backing on it, and gave to to me for Christmas! What a great gift! Lastly, and some may not agree here, but Spencer bought me a Fireproof, waterproof, natural disaster proof safe! I love it! I have been worried lately where to keep our pictures and important documents, and he put my worries to rest!

Christmas at the Adams house (sorry, we forgot the camera and had to take it with the phone)
My nephews Robert and Isaac helped me make this beautiful Ginger Bread house!

On the 23rd we went up to Salt Lake with our friends Jethro and Robyn, we went to dinner at Buca de Bepo and then went to Temple Square to see the lights. We spent the night at the Red Lion Hotel, where we played Settlers of Catan and Robyn won, big surprise there (note the sarcasm). On a side note, I just want to say that Robyn can miss out on like 10 rounds of a game, bathe Lincoln, make cookies, come back and still manage to win the game! It's astounding!

Here we are at dinner...

Boy, that night was cold!

The lights at Temple Square were beautiful!

Here is Robyn, succesfully winning another game!

New Years Eve was so fun and must like past years. We went to a party at the Fillmore's house, ate way too much food, played tons of games, and I fell asleep on the couch by about 11 o'clock. Happy New Year Spencer! You'll get your New Years kiss next year!

It was a wonderful 10 days! We were able to go back to the spot where Spencer proposed, which was fun! I can't wait to go back again next year....
